Welcome to The McLean School of Dance!

We are a friendly and professional team, based in the Tannochside area of Uddingston, who offer high quality dance training in Classical Ballet, Modern, Tap, Jazz, Acrobatics and Street Dance.

The school was established in 1999 and continues to thrive more than 20 years later, still in its original venue of the Viewpark Parish Church halls and still under the guidance of its founder, Shirley Ann McLean.

We pride ourselves in having high standards of teaching whilst remaining non-competitive and inclusive in our ethos.

We follow the syllabus of the Scottish Dance Teachers Alliance (SDTA). Dancers have the opportunity to participate in examinations (December or February usually) and in our annual summer Dance Showcase at Hamilton Townhouse Theatre.

Please browse our website and do contact us by email msd1999@yahoo.com if you require any further information.

Competitions / Festivals

We do not consider ourselves to be a “competition school” however there may be opportunities to compete once or twice a year in specially selected, friendly competitions. This is by no means compulsory nor a frequent occurrence. If weekly competitions and the “Dance Moms” life is what you are looking for, we are definitely not the dance school for you…
A very small number of children may also be invited to participate a few times a year in Festivals which are a lot more competitive than the usual “comps” and can be very expensive at first – this will be few and far between for us.
If you would like further information on this, please get in touch.
